Mabswitch is a Los Angeles-area company making antibodies whose strength of binding can be turned up or down by a second, small molecule after they are given. It is applying the idea to CAR-T cells and antibody-drug conjugates for cancer.
MabSwitch, Inc. develops ligand-programmable antibodies designed to give control over their activity after administration, and applies them to switchable-affinity T-cell engagers, antibody-drug conjugates and CAR-T cells, according to its website. In 2026 it received two National Cancer Institute SBIR awards: one for a remote-controlled peptide-centric CAR T-cell therapy for solid tumours, whose abstract names neuroblastoma as an example of a low-mutational-burden cancer, and one for an affinity-tunable antibody-drug conjugate against high-grade serous ovarian cancer. All of its programmes are preclinical.
