Medicxi
A London and Geneva venture firm that funds single-asset drug companies run by experienced drug hunters. Its cancer companies have included ProfoundBio (bought by Genmab), Kurome Therapeutics and Gadeta.
Overview
Medicxi has offices in London (25 Great Pulteney Street), Geneva and Jersey (contact page). Its approach is asset-centric: backing focused companies built around one or a few drug candidates, often with partners such as Verily, Novartis and GSK as limited partners. Its news room records a EUR 400 million Medicxi III fund closed in 2019 and a $40 million investment in D3 Bio in 2024. Oncology deals in the news room include Genmab's acquisition of ProfoundBio (antibody-drug conjugates), Kurome Therapeutics' $15 million Series A for kinase inhibitors in haematological cancers, Divide & Conquer (disrupting cell-to-cell communication in cancer), Yukin Therapeutics and Gilead's purchase of the gamma-delta T-cell company Gadeta. Non-oncology exits such as Centessa (Lilly) and Vicebio (Sanofi) dominate recent headlines.
