Mucommune is a North Carolina biotechnology company that works on antibodies and immune-cell engineering. In cancer it is developing MM014, a way of turning a patient's own T cells into CAR-T cells inside the body, for solid tumours.
Mucommune, LLC, in the Research Triangle in North Carolina, says it was founded in 2016 from muco-trapping antibody research at Johns Hopkins and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its portfolio spans female reproductive health, polymer immunogenicity and in vivo engineering of immune cells. Its pipeline page lists MM014, an in vivo CAR-T programme for solid tumours. In fiscal year 2026 the National Cancer Institute funded its SBIR project on in vivo engineering of B7-H3 CAR-T cells for ovarian cancer (5R44CA306674-02, USD 1,025,819); the startup monitor also lists a second NCI award to the company on B7-H3 CAR-T cells for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (5R44CA310402-02).
