Pilatus Biosciences develops PLT012, an antibody that blocks how certain cells in a tumour take up fat, aiming to weaken cells that suppress the immune system and strengthen those that attack cancer. It is in an early trial in advanced solid tumours, including liver cancer.
Pilatus Biosciences was founded in 2022 from the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, according to the company, and conducts research at the Biopôle campus in Epalinges, Switzerland, with entities in Taiwan and Hong Kong and a US holding company, Pilatus Biosciences Inc. It targets metabolic checkpoints with antibodies and bifunctional proteins. Its lead, PLT012, is a humanised anti-CD36 monoclonal antibody designed to block CD36-mediated lipid uptake, depleting immunosuppressive cells and boosting NK and CD8 T cell activity. PLT012 has FDA Fast Track designation in hepatocellular carcinoma and orphan drug designation for liver and intrahepatic bile duct cancer; its phase 1 dose-escalation study (NCT07337525) runs at US sites, and in October 2026 the company announced the first patient dosed at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in hepatocellular carcinoma backfill and expansion cohorts. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07337525, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in January 2026.
