PsiVac is a London company developing Ixovex-1, a genetically modified cold virus (adenovirus) designed to infect and burst cancer cells while largely sparing normal cells, and to rouse the immune system. It is in an early trial, alone and with the immunotherapy pembrolizumab.
PsiVac Ltd, at 55a Welbeck Street, London, develops oncolytic adenoviruses using what it describes as a patented multi-modality delivery system that makes a common oncolytic virus cancer-selective. Its founder, chairman and chief executive is Professor Ghassan Alusi, a head and neck surgeon at Barts Health. Its lead candidate Ixovex-1 is in a phase 1/2 study as a single agent and with pembrolizumab in solid tumours including head and neck cancer, run in the United Kingdom with IQVIA Biotech (NCT06549946). Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06549946, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in August 2024.
