Shimadzu
Shimadzu is a Kyoto instrument maker whose medical division sells X-ray, fluoroscopy and angiography systems and whose analytical division built the mass spectrometers that won a Nobel Prize.
Overview
Founded in 1875, Shimadzu produced Japan's first medical X-ray images and today sells fixed and mobile digital radiography, fluoroscopy tables and angiography systems used in interventional oncology suites, alongside laboratory mass spectrometers and chromatographs; Koichi Tanaka of Shimadzu shared the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for soft laser desorption ionisation.
