FUJIFILM Healthcare
Fujifilm moved from photographic film into medical imaging and now sells digital X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, endoscopes and, since buying Hitachi's imaging business in 2021, CT and MRI scanners.
Overview
FUJIFILM Holdings, founded in 1934, used its expertise in film and image processing to build a healthcare business that includes FDR digital radiography, Amulet mammography, Arietta and Sonosite ultrasound, flexible endoscopes that compete with Olympus in colonoscopy, and the Synapse radiology and pathology information systems. The 2021 acquisition of Hitachi's diagnostic imaging division added CT and MRI, making it a full-line imaging vendor. Its contract biologics arm is recorded separately as FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies. OnCo links it to radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound and mammography.
