Norway's childhood cancer society: peer support and parents' evenings in hospitals, activities for children with cancer and their families, and research funding.
Barnekreftforeningen is an independent nationwide membership organisation whose goal is that no child should die of cancer. Its 13 county associations are run by elected volunteers with support from staff. Members include families of children in treatment, children who have finished treatment or live with late effects, and families who have lost a child. Its peer supporters hold parents' evenings at hospitals with conversations for newly affected families, the county associations organise activities for children, parents and siblings, and it funds research on childhood cancer and holds professional seminars. UICC lists it as a Full Member.
