Union for International Cancer Control

aka UICC

The Geneva-based membership body of more than 1,100 cancer organisations that runs World Cancer Day, the World Cancer Congress and the TNM staging system.

Founded in 1933, UICC unites cancer societies, ministries of health, research institutes and patient groups in more than 170 countries and is the largest cancer-fighting organisation of its kind. It owns and publishes the TNM Classification of Malignant Tumours with the AJCC, leads World Cancer Day on 4 February, convenes the World Cancer Congress and the World Cancer Leaders' Summit, and runs capacity-building programmes such as the City Cancer Challenge, ATOM Coalition on access to medicines, and technical fellowships. UICC holds official relations with WHO and advocates for cancer in the UN non-communicable disease agenda.
