Hong Kong's long-standing cancer charity: a cancer rehabilitation centre and nursing home, help with medication costs, Chinese medicine services, family support and screening advice.
The Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society was founded by Professor Ho Hung-chiu, John, and its milestones page records that it is entering its 60th anniversary. Its mission is to reduce the cancer burden in Hong Kong through prevention and early detection, treatment, rehabilitation, palliative care and support for survivors and families, and through education, research and advocacy. It runs the HKACS Jockey Club Cancer Rehabilitation Centre, a nursing home registered with the Department of Health, as well as a Chinese medicine centre with Hong Kong Baptist University, a charity bed programme, medication subsidies and the Prof. H.C. Ho Memorial Medical Assistance Programme. It is a tax-exempt charity incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, and has warned the public that it is not related to commercial companies selling cancer screening under similar names. UICC lists it as a Full Member.
