Peru's cancer league since 1950: prevention campaigns and low-cost early detection tests at its two detection centres in Lima, aimed at people on low incomes.
The Liga Contra el Cáncer describes itself as the first institution in Peru to carry out cancer prevention and early detection, working since its founding in 1950 through information and education campaigns and preventive screening. Its mission is to fight the commonest cancers through early detection, research and education, to improve the quality of life of people on low incomes. It runs two detection centres in Lima, on Avenida Nicolás de Piérola in the city centre and on Avenida Brasil in Pueblo Libre, where people can book tests. Its UICC profile adds that it has 18 branches across Peru. UICC lists it as a Full Member.
