Malaysia's first cancer charity: a screening clinic, nuclear medicine centre, quit smoking clinic and Homes of Hope where children and adults can stay during treatment.
The National Cancer Society of Malaysia was established in 1966 by Dato' Dr S.K. Dharmalingam, described on its site as Malaysia's first oncologist, and describes itself as the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia. It is a tax-exempt charity registered with the Registrar of Societies and says it is financed entirely by public contributions and donations. It runs six centres: a Cancer and Health Screening Clinic, a Nuclear Medicine Centre, a Resource and Wellness Centre, a Quit Smoking Clinic, the Children's Home of Hope and the Adults' Home of Hope. Its head office is in Kuala Lumpur, with branches in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Perak and Sarawak. UICC lists it as a Full Member.
