The Maldives' cancer charity, founded in 2012: awareness and screening camps across the atolls and psychosocial support for patients, survivors and carers.
The Cancer Society of Maldives was founded in 2012 and works on awareness of cancers and their prevention, early detection and treatment, on improving the quality of cancer care in the Maldives, and on psychosocial support for patients, survivors and caregivers. It runs support groups and volunteer activities. Its UICC profile describes awareness sessions for schoolchildren and health workers in the atolls, breast cancer screening camps run with a specialist team from Singapore, cervical, oral and prostate screening programmes, and a 2015 workshop that trained two health workers from each of the 19 atolls to give awareness sessions. UICC lists it as a Full Member.
