A national childhood cancer charity founded in 2004 that stands beside children with cancer and their families and works with hospitals and state governments to improve care.
CanKids was founded in 2004 by cancer survivor and patient advocate Poonam Bagai under the umbrella of the Indian Cancer Society's Delhi branch, and spun off in June 2012 as an independent national society registered under the Societies Act. It has more than 300 volunteers and employees.
Its signature programme, YANA (You Are Not Alone), supports the child and family through treatment, and CanKids partners with cancer centres, doctors and state governments, funding gaps, providing social support staff, building capacity and advocating for childhood cancer to be a child-health priority in India.
