Spain's national network of cancer research groups, set up in 2017 inside the CIBER consortium so that laboratory and hospital groups across the country work on shared programmes.
CIBERONC is the cancer thematic area of the CIBER consortium, the public research consortium created on the initiative of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III. CIBER's own history records that cancer was added as a new thematic area on 1 January 2017, through the Acción Estratégica en Salud 2013-2016 call. CIBERONC's site lists research programmes including breast and gynaecological cancers and molecular mechanisms of cancer, and working modules on liquid biopsy, experimental models, immuno-oncology and bioinformatics, with linked clinical groups. Its group directory is loaded by script and could not be read on 3 November 2026, so this record does not state how many groups it has. Authors of the CART19-BE-01 paper list CIBERONC affiliations at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.
