The Brussels umbrella body, active since 1980, of national and regional cancer charities across Europe, working on prevention, early detection, access to medicines and patient support.
The Association of European Cancer Leagues is a non-profit, pan-European umbrella organisation that brings together 35 national and regional cancer societies, according to its about page, and has worked on cancer control in Europe since 1980. Based in Brussels, it gives cancer leagues a platform to work together on cancer prevention, early detection, access to medicines and patient support, and to advocate on these at EU level. It states that it is independent of the pharmaceutical industry and accepts no support from the tobacco industry or from companies whose products are deemed harmful to health. Its pages list the European Week Against Cancer and the European Code Against Cancer among its work. The European Medicines Agency lists it among eligible patients' and consumers' organisations.
