Overview
The University Hospital of Salamanca and its research institute IBSAL form one of Europe's leading myeloma centres. Its haematology department, long associated with Jesús San Miguel and now with María-Victoria Mateos, coordinates the Spanish Myeloma Group (GEM/PETHEMA) and led the trials of lenalidomide in high-risk smouldering myeloma, the ALCYONE trial of daratumumab in transplant-ineligible patients and the flow cytometry methods for measuring minimal residual disease.
