International Society for Quality of Life Research
The society for patient-reported outcomes and quality of life research, whose standards guide how symptoms and quality of life are measured in cancer trials.
Founded in 1994, ISOQOL brings together researchers, clinicians, regulators and patients working on health-related quality of life and patient-reported outcomes (PROs). It publishes Quality of Life Research and the Journal of Patient-Reported Outcomes, and its guidance on PRO measure selection, minimal standards, and the SPIRIT-PRO and CONSORT-PRO extensions for trial protocols and reports are used by oncology trialists and by regulators assessing quality-of-life claims. ISOQOL's special interest groups on cancer, digital health and clinical practice work with the FDA, EMA and HTA bodies on how PRO data should inform approvals and value, and its annual conference draws the field's methodologists.
