The US charity for people with brain tumours: research funding, policy advocacy and a team that helps patients find their way through care.
The National Brain Tumor Society was formed in 2008 by the merger of two organisations founded in the 1980s, the National Brain Tumor Foundation and the Brain Tumor Society, according to its history page. The Foundation began by raising money for Dr Charles Wilson's laboratory at UCSF; the Brain Tumor Society was founded in Boston in 1989 by Bonnie and Sid Feldman and others after the death of their son, and funded more than 90 scientists over 20 years. The Kelly Heinz-Grundner Foundation joined in 2010. Today NBTS states that it invests in research, advocates for public policy changes and offers personalised brain tumour navigation and a research-advocate training programme. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $15 million for the tax year ending December 2025.
