National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital

The National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital in Mohakhali, Dhaka, is Bangladesh's apex public cancer institute under the Directorate General of Health Services. It provides surgical oncology, medical oncology, radiotherapy, paediatric oncology, nuclear medicine and palliative care for a country of around 170 million people with very limited radiotherapy capacity, runs the national hospital-based cancer registry, and trains oncologists through postgraduate courses under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. The government is expanding the institute and building divisional cancer centres to relieve pressure on Dhaka.
