A US charity, founded in 1985, devoted only to cancer prevention and early detection: research grants, education on screening and vaccination, advocacy and community programmes.
The Prevent Cancer Foundation was founded in 1985 by Carolyn "Bo" Aldigé in memory of her father, Edward Perry Richardson, who died of cancer in 1984, according to its history page. It describes itself as the only US-based nonprofit solely dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. It funds research grants and fellowships, provides information on prevention and early detection through lifestyle, vaccination and screening, advocates for research funding and access to screening, and works with community organisations through its Community Exchange network. In 1996 it funded the Mammovan, a mobile mammography unit for the Washington region. The IRS Business Master File lists revenue of about $10 million for the tax year ending December 2025.
