Overview
Seoul National University Bundang Hospital opened in 2003 in Seongnam as the second hospital of Seoul National University College of Medicine, separate from the main hospital in central Seoul. Its Department of Surgery, under Hyung-Ho Kim, is a leading centre of minimally invasive gastric cancer surgery and led the Korean Laparoendoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study group's KLASS-01 trial, which showed that laparoscopic distal gastrectomy gave the same survival as open surgery in early stomach cancer.
