Korean surgeon who led KLASS-01, the trial that showed keyhole gastrectomy is as safe and effective as open surgery for early stomach cancer.
Overview
Hyung-Ho Kim is a gastric surgeon at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and a leader of the Korean Laparoendoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study group. He was first author of the 2019 JAMA Oncology report of KLASS-01, which found no difference in overall survival between laparoscopic and open distal gastrectomy for stage I gastric cancer, supporting the minimally invasive approach.
