Overview
The University College Hospital in Ibadan was established in 1957 as Nigeria's first teaching hospital, attached to the University of Ibadan's College of Medicine. It has one of the country's longest-running radiotherapy departments and provides medical oncology, haematology, paediatric oncology and surgical oncology for south-western Nigeria. UCH Ibadan is a major site for cancer research in Africa, including the Ibadan Cancer Registry, genetic studies of breast cancer in Nigerian women with the University of Chicago, and the Nigerian Breast Cancer Study, and it hosts an Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training.
