The cancer centre of UI Health and the University of Illinois Chicago, aimed at closing gaps in cancer outcomes between communities, with clinical trials and research programmes.
The University of Illinois Cancer Center states its mission as providing innovative care designed to eliminate cancer health disparities by elevating the voices of its communities as stakeholders in discovery, education and the provision of care. It has about 260 member physicians and scientists across three research programmes: Cancer Prevention and Control, Cancer Biology, and Translational Oncology. It is part of the University of Illinois Hospital & Clinics (UI Health), which is part of the University of Illinois Chicago. It runs a Data Hub for Communities that lets people explore data on cancer and its risk factors across Illinois, and its prevention research works with the UI Health Mile Square Health Center. This is a different centre from the Cancer Center at Illinois in Urbana.
