The Oncologist is a fully open access monthly journal from Oxford University Press and the Society for Translational Oncology, aimed at translating research into better multidimensional care for cancer patients.
Overview
The Oncologist describes itself as dedicated to translating the latest research developments into the best multidimensional care for cancer patients, spanning basic science, translational research, clinical practice and socioeconomic and psychosocial factors across oncology and haematology. It publishes reviews, original studies and commentaries across more than thirty subject areas, from breast and lung cancer to immuno-oncology, paediatric oncology and medical ethics. Since 2022 it has been published by Oxford University Press for the Society for Translational Oncology as a peer-reviewed, fully open access, online-only journal with twelve issues a year; articles are published under CC BY or CC BY-NC licences with an article processing charge (society members receive a discount). It began in 1996 with AlphaMed Press in Dayton, Ohio; print ceased with volume 25 in 2020 (NLM Catalog).
