SeekIn's combined DNA and protein test found six in ten cancers in a laboratory set and seven in ten in people who had bought it, at specificities of 95 to 98 per cent.
Li and colleagues report SeekInCare, which combines copy number, fragment size, end motif and oncogenic virus signals from shallow whole-genome sequencing of cell-free DNA with seven protein tumour markers. In a retrospective set of 617 patients with 27 cancer types and 580 without cancer it reached 60.0% sensitivity at 98.3% specificity (area under the curve 0.899), with 37.7%, 50.4%, 66.7% and 78.1% at stages I to IV. In a prospective cohort of 1,203 people who received it as a laboratory-developed test (median follow-up 753 days) it had 70.0% sensitivity at 95.2% specificity.
One of few multi-cancer tests with a stage I figure above one in three, from a case-control set; the prospective figures rest on few cancers.
