Led EXTREME and TAX 323, which defined the chemotherapy standards for head and neck cancer for a decade.
Overview
Jan Vermorken (Antwerp University Hospital) was principal investigator of EXTREME, which showed adding cetuximab to platinum-fluorouracil improves survival in recurrent or metastatic head and neck cancer and became the comparator arm for KEYNOTE-048, and of TAX 323, which established docetaxel-based induction chemotherapy.
