Led the EORTC glioma trials that established chemotherapy for anaplastic gliomas and the value of 1p/19q and IDH status.
Overview
Martin van den Bent led EORTC 26951, which showed adjuvant PCV chemotherapy doubles survival in 1p/19q-codeleted anaplastic oligodendroglioma, and the CATNON trial establishing adjuvant temozolomide in non-codeleted anaplastic glioma. He chaired the EORTC Brain Tumour Group and led the EANO glioma guidelines. His work built the molecular framework for glioma classification and treatment.
