Stephen Boorjian chairs the department of urology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He was first author of the 2021 Lancet Oncology report of the phase 3 trial of intravesical nadofaragene firadenovec, an adenoviral vector delivering the interferon alfa-2b gene, in BCG-unresponsive non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer; about half of patients with carcinoma in situ had a complete response, the basis of the first gene therapy approval in bladder cancer. He also publishes on outcomes after cystectomy and nephrectomy.
