A former Pfizer chemist who joined Hutchmed in 2005 as head of research and became CEO in 2022; his team designed fruquintinib (FDA approval 2023 via Takeda), the selective MET inhibitor savolitinib (partnered with AstraZeneca) and surufatinib, the first Chinese-discovered small molecules to reach global markets.
