GABRG3
GABRG3 (Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit gamma-3) is a gene. The public catalogues list it as a drug target, and clinical evidence ties its variants to diagnosis, prognosis or drug response.
Overview
Gamma subunit of the heteropentameric ligand-gated chloride channel gated by gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain. GABA-gated chloride channels, also named GABA(A) receptors (GABAAR), consist of five subunits arranged around a central pore and contain GABA active binding site(s) located at the alpha and beta subunit interface(s). When activated by GABA, GABAARs selectively allow the flow of chloride across the cell membrane down their electrochemical gradient.
Open Targets scores its association with cancer at 0.50 (direct and indirect evidence; datatypes literature 0.16, genetic association 0.51, clinical 0.66).
