NOL9
NOL9 (Polynucleotide 5'-hydroxyl-kinase NOL9) is a protein kinase, an enzyme that switches other proteins on by adding phosphate groups. The public catalogues list it as a biomarker, and clinical evidence ties its variants to diagnosis, prognosis or drug response. Tied to Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
Overview
Polynucleotide kinase that can phosphorylate the 5'-hydroxyl groups of single-stranded and double-stranded RNA and DNA substrates. Involved in rRNA processing and its kinase activity is required for the processing of the 32S precursor into 5.8S and 28S rRNAs, more specifically for the generation of the major 5.8S(S) form. Required for the efficient pre-rRNA processing of internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2).

- 2 · What goes wrong in cancer
Polynucleotide kinase that can phosphorylate the 5'-hydroxyl groups of single-stranded and double-stranded RNA and DNA substrates.
- 3 · How drugs use it
No product in this corpus aims at NOL9 yet. Kinases are switched on by binding ATP inside the cell, so most drugs are small molecules shaped to plug that ATP pocket.

Associates with LAS1L to form an ITS2 pre-rRNA endonuclease-kinase complex and is responsible for the transport of this complex into the nucleolus. Location: Nucleus; Nucleus, nucleolus (UniProt). Locus 1p36.31 (HGNC).
