Part IXC of the NHS Drug Tariff lists 13 rows of ostomy discharge solidifying agents in November 2026 (for example Absorbian sachets from Charles S Bullen Stomacare, Morform sachets and ConvaTec's Esenta Diamonds) and 46 rows of ostomy deodorants (for example Respond's Neutralise, Day-drop and Coloplast Brava). Gelling agents make high-output bags easier to empty and less likely to leak; they do not reduce how much fluid is lost, which matters for dehydration with a high-output ileostomy and is managed medically.
Superabsorbent polymers in a sachet absorb liquid output in the bag to form a gel; deodorants neutralise or mask odour compounds in the bag.
