These consensus criteria judge response in Waldenstrom macroglobulinaemia, mainly by the fall in the abnormal IgM protein in the blood.
The consensus panel of the 6th International Workshop on Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinaemia (Owen and colleagues, British Journal of Haematology 2013) updated the response criteria, since categorical responses improved with new regimens and predict outcome. Open problems it names are the different speed of IgM fall with different treatments and a mismatch between IgM and bone marrow response with some regimens; planned sequential marrow assessments are encouraged in trials.
