RANO-BM is the set of rules for judging whether cancer that has spread to the brain is responding, stable or growing in a clinical trial.
Patients with brain metastases were long excluded from trials, and those trials that included them used varying response and progression criteria. The RANO Brain Metastases working group (Lin and colleagues, Lancet Oncology 2015) proposed standard response and progression criteria for brain metastases in clinical trials, to make results comparable.
