RAPNO is the children's version of the brain tumour response rules, written because adult criteria do not fit tumours such as paediatric high-grade glioma.
The Response Assessment in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology working group writes response criteria tumour by tumour. For paediatric high-grade glioma (Erker and colleagues, Lancet Oncology 2020) it recommends MRI of brain and spine, assessment of clinical status and of corticosteroid or antiangiogenic use, and, unlike the adult criteria, includes diffusion-weighted imaging and relies more on T2-weighted FLAIR images. The group asks for prospective validation in trials.
