Monteris Medical
Monteris makes NeuroBlate, a system that lets a neurosurgeon destroy a brain tumour from the inside with a laser fibre inserted through a small hole in the skull while watching the heat spread on a live MRI scan, avoiding open brain surgery.
Overview
Monteris Medical, a private company in Minnetonka, Minnesota, develops and sells the NeuroBlate System for MRI-guided laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT). A robotically controlled laser probe is placed through a small burr hole and delivers heat while MR thermometry shows the ablation zone in real time, offering a minimally invasive alternative to open resection for brain tumours, radiation necrosis and drug-resistant epilepsy. NeuroBlate is FDA cleared and marketed in the US. In 2026 the company published the LAANTERN prospective registry in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, covering 787 oncology patients treated at 25 centres. In March 2026 Monteris closed a USD 28 million Series E led by InnovaHealth Partners and Birchview Capital, with OSF Ventures, the Colorado University Healthcare Innovation Fund and Madryn Asset Management participating, and secured a USD 35 million credit facility from Trinity Capital.
