ABC-12
ABC-12 collects mouth and bowel bacteria samples from UK patients having standard chemotherapy with durvalumab for bile duct or gallbladder cancer, to see whether the microbiome predicts who responds.
Overview
ABC-12 (ISRCTN11210442) is a UK study, led from The Christie with AstraZeneca support, in patients with biliary tract adenocarcinoma, including cholangiocarcinoma and gallbladder carcinoma, receiving durvalumab with cisplatin and gemcitabine as their standard of care. The primary outcome is baseline alpha diversity (number of species) in microbiome samples from responders (partial or complete response by RECIST 1.1) and non-responders at 18 weeks. Seventy patients are targeted at ten NHS trusts (The Christie, Imperial, Cambridge, Royal Free, Oxford, Birmingham, Clatterbridge, Nottingham, Velindre and University College London Hospitals) with an end date of September 2026. It is a companion study to the TOPAZ-1 standard rather than a treatment trial.
