Abdera Therapeutics
Abdera Therapeutics engineered antibodies that carry a radioactive isotope to cancer cells, tuning how long they circulate so more radiation reaches the tumour and less reaches healthy tissue. Its first medicine targets a protein on small cell lung cancer.
Overview
Abdera Therapeutics, based in Vancouver and Menlo Park, California, developed antibody-based radiopharmaceuticals using its ROVEr antibody engineering platform, which tunes pharmacokinetic properties so that alpha- or beta-emitting isotopes can be matched to targets with a wide range of antigen expression. Its lead programme targets DLL3 for small cell lung cancer and other solid tumours and was advancing toward the clinic at launch; founding partners were adMare BioInnovations and AbCellera. The company emerged in April 2023 with USD 142 million in combined Series A and B financing, the Series A led by Versant Ventures and Amplitude Ventures and the USD 110 million Series B led by venBio Partners with Viking Global Investors, Qiming Venture Partners USA and RTW Investments.

Notes
top- Company website abderatx.com returned HTTP 503 or no response on every attempt, so the website field points to the fetched press release copy instead. Current status is uncertain: search headlines in 2026 refer to an auction of Abdera laboratory equipment and to biotechs that closed, but no fetched primary source confirms a wind-down, so stage is left at startup. Clinical status of the DLL3 programme (a phase 1a start was reported in trade press) not confirmed from fetched pages.
