ARTBIO
ARTBIO makes cancer treatments that deliver short-range alpha radiation from lead-212 directly to tumour cells, starting with prostate cancer. Its first medicine is in early human trials, currently paused by the company while it reviews data.
Overview
ARTBIO, Inc. (Cambridge, Massachusetts, with engineering and manufacturing in Oslo) develops a new class of 212Pb alpha radioligand therapies (ARTs), together with its AlphaDirect isotope production technology and manufacturing ecosystem. The company was founded in 2021 by Roy Larsen and Øyvind Bruland, the inventors of Xofigo, with F-Prime and Radforsk. The lead asset AB001, a PSMA-targeted 212Pb radioligand for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, is in the phase 1 ARTISAN trial; two cohorts (177Lu-PSMA naive and 177Lu-PSMA experienced) were dosed in January 2026, and in April 2026 the company implemented a voluntary clinical hold of ARTISAN. Jonathan Freeman was appointed interim CEO in July 2026. Further programmes include 212Pb antibody conjugates and the HEARTS discovery platform. ARTBIO raised a USD 90 million Series A in December 2023 and about USD 132 million in July 2025, according to Endpoints News.
