Adze Biotechnology is developing viruses engineered to infect and kill cancer cells while carrying immune-boosting drugs into the tumour. Its first product, Adze1.C, is in an early trial in melanoma that has spread.
Adze Biotechnology Inc., based in Coral Gables, Florida, with an Australian subsidiary that sponsors its trial, develops oncolytic immunotherapies built on a recombinant adenovirus backbone that it says can be given systemically or injected into tumours and can carry checkpoint-inhibitor payloads. Sidney Hopps is chief executive and co-founder, and Paola Grandi, formerly chief scientific officer of CG Oncology, joined in June 2025 to lead preclinical and translational research. The company lists melanoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and triple-negative breast cancer as lead indications and announced a clinical collaboration with King's College London in breast cancer. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07086105, a phase 1 dose-escalation study of intratumoural Adze1.C in metastatic melanoma at Australian sites, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in July 2025.
