Liver surgeon who defined who benefits from resecting colorectal liver metastases and pioneered oncolytic virus therapy.
Overview
Yuman Fong developed the Clinical Risk Score for colorectal liver metastases that guides selection for hepatectomy and established that liver resection can cure a substantial fraction of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer, and pioneered the use of engineered herpes and vaccinia viruses as oncolytic and imaging agents. He chairs surgery at City of Hope after leading hepatobiliary surgery at MSKCC.
