Humane Genomics builds artificial cancer-killing viruses that only infect and only multiply inside tumour cells, starting with a rare liver cancer in children.
Overview
Humane Genomics engineers oncolytic RNA viruses from first principles with what it calls two-factor authentication: selective infection plus selective replication, which the company says gives an on-target to off-target kill ratio above 1,000 in its models. Its first indication is paediatric hepatoblastoma, in partnership with Texas Children's Hospital, with mouse data on safety and tumour volume reduction reported on its YC profile. The work is preclinical.
