Overview
Pedro Ramirez (Houston Methodist; formerly MD Anderson) was principal investigator of LACC, the randomised trial showing minimally invasive radical hysterectomy leads to more recurrences and deaths than open surgery in early-stage cervical cancer, a result that reversed a decade of surgical practice. He has since led work on the mechanisms of this finding and on surgical technique modifications.
