Overview
Freddie Hamdy was chief investigator of ProtecT, the UK randomised trial of active monitoring, prostatectomy and radiotherapy for PSA-detected localised prostate cancer, whose 10- and 15-year results showed very low and similar mortality across arms and made active surveillance a mainstream choice. He also co-led the CAP screening trial. He leads urological research in Oxford.
