Alaw Therapeutics makes pills that block CDK2 and CDK4, enzymes that drive cancer cell division, and designs them to reach the brain. Its CDK2 blocker AL-605 began its first human trial in 2026 in breast, ovarian and other cancers with extra copies of the cyclin E1 gene.
Alaw Therapeutics is a clinical-stage precision oncology company founded in February 2024 by Torrey Pines and OrbiMed; it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Eilean Therapeutics. It develops highly selective, brain-penetrant small-molecule inhibitors and next-generation targeted degradation approaches, including RIPTAC programmes. On 29 May 2026 it announced first patients dosed in a phase 1a/b trial of AL-605, a selective CDK2 inhibitor, in CCNE1-amplified solid tumours: HR-positive breast cancer that progressed after CDK4/6 inhibitors with CCNE1 amplification or overexpression, and CCNE1-amplified ovarian, endometrial, gastric, oesophageal and triple-negative breast cancers. It also nominated AL-433, a brain-penetrant CDK4 inhibitor designed for selectivity over CDK6, as a development candidate, with first-in-human entry planned for the fourth quarter of 2026 and studies expected to allow patients with active central nervous system tumours or brain metastases. A third programme, AL-273, is a pan-mutant EGFR inhibitor. Nikolay Savchuk is chief executive and John C. Byrd chief medical officer.
