Biocon's biosimilars arm, one of the few companies outside the US and Europe with FDA- and EMA-approved cancer antibody biosimilars, and since 2022 the owner of Viatris's biosimilars business.
Overview
Biocon Biologics was set up in 2000 as Biocon's biosimilar subsidiary and became a wholly owned, fully integrated unit on 31 March 2026. Its oncology biosimilars include trastuzumab (Ogivri, FDA December 2017; EMA 12 December 2018, the first trastuzumab biosimilar in the US), bevacizumab (Abevmy, EMA 21 April 2021) and pegfilgrastim (Fulphila) for chemotherapy-induced neutropenia, alongside insulins and adalimumab. In May 2022 it bought the biosimilar assets of Viatris for 3.34 billion dollars, taking over the commercial infrastructure in the US and Europe. Domestically its CANMAb and Krabeva brands sit in the Indian market where several trastuzumab and bevacizumab biosimilars compete, which is why the reference brands cost a fraction of Western prices in India.

The first targeted antibody for a solid tumour (1998), which turned HER2-positive breast cancer from the worst subtype into one of the most treatable.
The first drug to starve tumours of blood vessels. Approved in 2004 for bowel cancer, it remains a standard partner for chemotherapy in many cancers and is the add-on that makes late-line pills work better.
