BioLineRx
BioLineRx is an Israeli company whose CXCR4 inhibitor motixafortide (Aphexda) was approved in the United States in 2023 to mobilise stem cells for autologous transplant in multiple myeloma, and which tests the drug with pembrolizumab in pancreatic cancer.
Overview
BioLineRx, based in Modi'in and listed on Nasdaq and Tel Aviv, develops motixafortide (BL-8040), a long-acting CXCR4 antagonist. In the phase 3 GENESIS trial a single dose with filgrastim mobilised enough stem cells for transplant in far more myeloma patients than filgrastim alone, leading to FDA approval as Aphexda in September 2023; US commercial rights were licensed to Ayrmid in 2024. The company also studies motixafortide with pembrolizumab and chemotherapy in metastatic pancreatic cancer and for sickle cell gene therapy mobilisation. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Pembrolizumab is a PD-1 blocking antibody approved in more than 40 settings, from melanoma and lung cancer to the first tumour-agnostic approval for mismatch-repair-deficient tumours in 2017, and before and after surgery in triple-negative breast cancer. A subcutaneous form arrived in 2025, and it is the backbone partner for ADCs and personalised neoantigen vaccines.
Filgrastim (Neupogen and its biosimilars) is a daily injection that speeds the recovery of infection-fighting white cells after chemotherapy, lets doctors give chemotherapy on schedule and mobilises stem cells for transplant.
