Eight Medical makes a device that warms chemotherapy and circulates it through the bladder, a treatment for early bladder cancer called HIVEC. The device is not yet approved and is entering its first registered study.
Eight Medical International BV is a Rotterdam medical device company that has developed the Eight Medical Hyperthermia System IV 1.0, which lavages the bladder with a heated therapeutic solution according to a clinician-set protocol. The company presents it as an option for selected patients with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer who cannot tolerate, or do not respond to, standard treatment; its website marks the device as unapproved, not for clinical use and not for sale. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT07758881, a prospective single-arm study of the safety and performance of the system for recirculating hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy (HIVEC) with mitomycin C in adults with non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer at two Belgian sites, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in August 2026, with an estimated start in January 2027.
